Health Education for Kids - Creating a Love for a Healthy Life

Many sources agree that improving health education for kids in the USA is crucial to the well-being of our country.

Yet none of the experts offering ideas, suggestions, strategies at their kids health website discuss the most important component for improving upon kids health problems.

"Why is that?", you might be thinking.

The answer: the vast majority of adults have never examined nor been taught the importance of this factor. We didn't learn it in schools, the medical profession doesn't teach it.

health education for kids - nutrition Because this necessary, underlying foundation has been ignored as the key element in establishing optimum health, whether for adults or kids, we in the USA have a health care crisis.

Before you can

  • successfully introduce health and nutrition for kids,
  • happily examine health websites for kids, and
  • have meaningful discussions about kids and health with your kids,
remember this: "If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting the same results."

Thus, if moms keep following conventional medical advice about health education for kids, there is a high probability that kids will keep creating unhealthy lifestyles.

If kids continue their health habits of today, any ...

of today will become adult health problems of tomorrow.

What I'm about to introduce as the starting point for health education for kids may shock, surprise, even startle you.

You and your loved ones will miss a precious opportunity to take advantage of cutting edge, up to date, ground breaking health education for kids if you leave now.

So what is the missing factor that can revolutionize health education for kids and adults?

self love Time for the drum roll, please...

The missing factor to life long optimum health begins with self-love.

Nothing happens until you love yourself.

Just as adults wanting to change unhealthy habits, kids must first accept and love themselves enough to be willing to make changes.

It takes an effort to change any habit. But when you love yourself, and value yourself, you know it's worth it.

Healthy self-love leads to a healthy and strong self-esteem.

Kids who learn to respect and honor themselves at an early age want to live healthy lives, because they see all around them the results of not living healthy.

Self-love goes a long way towards guaranteeing heart health for kids.

When I worked as a health researcher for a company in Idaho, I discovered the work of pioneer heart health expert Dr. Dean Ornish.

"Dr. Ornish, who was the first to prove the reversal of heart disease by changing lifestyle, has found that perhaps the most powerful and meaningful intervention is love and intimacy, plus the emotional and spiritual transformation that often results.

These factors, which are largely ignored by the medical profession, are explained in these easy-to-understand, but scientific, pages. Dean Ornish has done it again--transformed the way we think about health."

The above quote is from Dr. Ornish's book Love & Survival: 8 Pathways to Intimacy and Health by Dean Ornish, MD.

Unfortunately, it's not as easy and simple as saying to your kids: "Start loving yourselves."

Here's a good discussion on childrens emotional health , a crucial and very significant aspect of overall health education for kids.

Health Concerns for Kids - Obesity #1 Concern

Because adults live a fast paced, stressed out, sedentary, overworked lifestyle, fewer and fewer healthy, nutritious, home cooked meals are made.

And the results are devastating to kids.

A report issued August 4, 2008 by The Center for Science in the Public Interest reveals "Kids’ Meals at Restaurants Usually Too High in Calories, and Good Options Hard to Find."

A diet too high in calories coupled with excessive time in front of TVs and computers leads to the staggering increase in child and adolescent obesity, with a substantial increase in diabetes in children.

The Surgeon General of the United States reports: "In 1999, 13% of children aged 6 to 11 years and 14% of adolescents aged 12 to 19 years in the United States were overweight. This prevalence has nearly tripled for adolescents in the past 2 decades."

Many times, overeating is a result of

adolescent emotional health issues that have never been fully resolved or even acknowledged.

What is needed is health education for kids that inspires and empowers kids to want to live a healthy lifestyle as kids, and not wait until they're desperate, as so many of us adults have done.

Attn Moms: The following health information for kids is for older kids. It deals with how thoughts affect health education for kids.

Health Education for Kids in Their Teens - The Power of Our Thoughts

Personal wellness is caring for the whole person you are, i.e., body, mind, spirit. It begins as a state of mind, a decision you make, that no one else can make for you.

Moms who empower their kids with childrens holistic health information are providing the most comprehensive health education for kids available.

Your results depend entirely upon your choices, conscious or unconscious.

You choose to experience well being. Each moment of each day your choices determine whether you're dealing with stress that's unhealthy or at peace regardless of war surrounding you.

Childrens behavioral health consists of many factors, one of which is her thinking process.

The Hidden Messages in Water by Masaru Emoto and David A. Thayne demonstrates scientifically the power of our thoughts and intentions.

A quote from The Hidden Messages in Water: "This book has the potential to profoundly transform your world view.

"Using high-speed photography, Dr. Masaru Emoto discovered that crystals formed in frozen water reveal changes when specific, concentrated thoughts are directed toward them.

"He found that water from clear springs and water that has been exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns.

"In contrast, polluted water, or water exposed to negative thoughts, forms incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors. The implications of this research create a new awareness of how we can positively impact the earth and our personal health.

Health education for kids big time tip:
Life is guaranteed to gift you unexpected, unasked for, unwanted health wellness challenges.

How you handle these unexpected gifts depends largely on

  • how much responsibility you take for your life,
  • how much you love and honor the unique being you are, and
  • what you do with your thoughts.

Life offers a steady stream of endless choices. The choices you make, make your life.

As said above, nothing is as critical to our personal wellness as the choices we make. Our choices determine the quality of our lives and well being.

You and only you choose which thoughts to empower and which thoughts to wave good bye to. In order to live without disease and full of joy, you must think healthy thoughts, see yourself as healthy, and carry on healthy living activities.

The thoughts you empower, empower you.

As you choose more and more to eat healthier, to consume foods that energize and enliven you, your personal wellness expands.

As you choose to exercise daily instead of monthly, your wellness increases, your mind is clearer, your emotions and mental health don't drag you down, you handle life's challenges calmly.

As you choose to spend more and more time with people who nurture and nourish you, your energy levels increase.

When you leave out diet and nutrition from health education for kids, you cheat kids of a key component of health education.

For kids to discover the role nutrition plays is important.

Can you imagine the mechanic telling you to put sand in your gas tank to make it run better? The side effects of the sand would ruin your engine and you'd have a major expense.

You won't find the necessary health education for kids in regular media that empowers your children to live without disease and major illnesses.

Life is a journey!

There is a saying by one of my favorite authors, Ernie Zelinski:

"Do what is easy, life becomes difficult.
Do what is difficult, life becomes easy."

May your personal wellness journey make your heart zing and bring gratitude to your spirit for the gifts you presently have.
