Printable Coloring Page is Fun, Inspirational, Creative, Personal, Educational
Each printable coloring page is a unique experience for your child.
Some pages are educational coloring pages, because kids create their own pictures while other coloring pages such as coloring book fun are just fun coloring pages that you can download for free.
Here are free Christmas coloring pages, with links to many more coloring pages according to the holiday season.
Kids just love art projects that involve coloring and drawing.
Coloring pages are for kids just starting out in their artistic, creative development.
The child gets an idea of what crayons are like, how to handle them, or what coloring pencils are.
There are lines to work within, so a printable coloring page helps children develop their confidence and their abilities to stay within the lines and to make pictures with the help of the lines.
Exposure to coloring characters they may be familiar with from the movies, such as A Bug's Life increases a child's comfort level as well.
However, children are naturally creative and often wish to express their creativity.
I discuss on creative childrens books how 90% of kids age 5 are creative but by age 10, only 10% because of the rigid rules and regulations of traditional schooling.
Tune into your child and be willing to allow her to express her creative skills and inclinations through a different type of printable coloring page.
And, what if you combine her love of coloring and drawing with friendship making skills?

Much more than coloring pictures for kids, our drawing coloring pages allows each child to express her own individuality, creativity, and understanding of the words on the page.
Ultimately, because these printable coloring pages for kids are based on a story, your child becomes the illustrator for a Read-Me, Draw-Me Book, a printable kids activity book.
Your child is the featured artist. She can confidently and joyously display her work for family and friends, even for a Show and Tell at school (if she attends one).
The coloring pages are excellent sources for grades K-3 homeschool curriculum. Once your child gets involved in drawing and illustrating her picture on a printable coloring page, hours fly by.
Your child excitedly and contentedly creating her own personalized book. However,...
Warning to Parents/EducatorsNot all children feel comfortable or confident in drawing their own pictures. Some kids feel threatened or intimidated by the lack of the customary lines and figures that make up kids coloring pages and coloring books.
As parent or teacher, you can determine if asking your child to create her own illustrations is putting too much stress on her.
You don't want to add stress to children's lives, by forcing them into an uncomfortable situation.
However, you can point out to the child that border designs on each page give ideas of what to draw and create.
Sometimes just looking at the border design for a few minutes ignites a spark of confidence to draw something and stretch her abilities beyond a simple coloring page.
Use your intuition and knowledge of the child who may not want to draw the picture to determine if you can encourage her to draw it or not.

Here's drawing pages 4-6 of Joey's Cabbage Patch.
Why Illustrating and Coloring Pictures for Kids are ImportantIt has been stated by educators for children that "90 percent of kids are creative at 5 years-old, and only 2 percent of children are still creative by the time they're 8 years-old." (Living Your Life Out Loud by Salli Rasberry and Padi Selwyn, p.3). (I know, I repeated myself from above, but this point is so important, I felt it OK to do so.)
If this is true, then it's important that children get as many opportunities to use and increase their creativity as much as possible between 6 - 8 years old. Which just happens to be the age group who most enjoyed Joey's Cabbage Patch when it was first published as a soft cover book.
Having creative muscles throughout life gives each of us more options and makes it much easier to "turn lemons into lemonade."
People who are creative see solutions when problems arise, and have more options to create a variety of solutions.
So, parents who gift their children with opportunities to be creative may see dividends and rewards their entire lives.
Our printable coloring page gives your child the chance to deepen her creative thinking skills, develop herself as an artist, and to learn about the environment as well.
