Kids Books and Self Esteem - Building a Healthy Self Esteem in Kids Has Lifelong Benefits

Kids books and self esteem is a category that might sound strange to adults, who think adults are the only ones needing self help.

Any activity or exercise that can help to boost your child's self esteem is worthy of consideration.

I had a very low self esteem as a child, despite doing quite well through grade school and in my first three years of high school.

I grew up in the 1950s and 1960s, before self esteem became a national craze and an important element in building character education.

I doubt if there were many educators and parents talking about kids books and self esteem. Maybe there were no kids books about self esteem in those days.

Self help books for kids. Books and self esteem for kids. It's hard to imagine nowadays that there were so few, if any, available during my growing up years.

Looking at the many pressures and stresses society places on young people these days, the better a child's self esteem, the better she experiences life.

And one thing is certain: childrens books that help kids with self esteem issues plant seeds for lifelong positive self esteem.

Equally as important are...

Self Help Books for Kids

In searching for self help books for kids, I discovered Stick Up for Yourself!: Every Kid’s Guide to Personal Power and Positive Self-Esteem (Revised and Updated Edition) by Gershen Kaufman, Ph.D., Lev Raphael, Ph.D., and Pamela Espeland.

I then went to Amazon for reader comments and found readers had given the book 4 1/2 stars out of a possible 5, making it a highly recommended book.

So, if you're looking for kids books and self esteem, check it out.

Another book about self esteem is My Feet Aren't Ugly!: A Girl's Guide to Loving Herself from the Inside Out.

It received very good comments from readers, including the following about the author:
"She is the founder of Spirited Youth--an organization devoted to nurturing young women with guidance and support, and has led workshops with Girl Power."

As I stated on childrens books on self esteem , your child's self esteem is one of the most crucial components to lifelong success, regardless of your definition of success. In any discussion of success, I include the word love , for without being able to give and receive love, we suffer lonely, oftentimes miserable lives.

And one is unable to give and receive love unless one has sufficient, healthy, self-love, a key component of self esteem.

Without self-love, your child is unwilling and unable to to do the things she needs to do to feel good about herself and to have a healthy self esteem.

Without a healthy self esteem, how can your child

  • exercise,
  • eat properly,
  • do well in school,
  • make friends who care about her,
  • stand up to bullies,
  • feel optimistic about life?

In other words, your child's health depends upon her self esteem and self-love.
